Presentation - Holberton School Initiative

Holberton School offers a two-year higher-education program to students, to become highly skilled software and operations engineers, through project-based and peer learning. The curriculum is designed for intelligent, passionate, dedicated and open-minded students. It is both intense and exciting.

Rawls is a project developing a platform, based on privacy rules, to empower companies and consumers to monetize personal data.

Magali Bohn, co-founder of Rawls and VP of Bus Dev at Chronicle, kicked off a project with the Holberton school to develop an app, so consumers can define what they want to do with their personal data, with the ability to sell personal data and manage a wallet. We asked the students to use smart contract on Blockchain technology.

Bryan, Jin, Nicole, Rui and Sumin will present the result of months of hard work, an app with data privacy management, all backed by Blockchain.

Bryan - is trying his best to learn everything about tech. His last job was in healthcare and he enjoys a variety of things: competitive gaming, working out, video production, wholesome memes, and social brew tastings.

Jian Huang, Software Engineering Student - Formerly a cardiovascular research assistant, Jian’s interest in technology has led him to enroll in the Holberton School to immerse himself in the tech industry. A few of his current interests include security, big data, and artificial intelligence, and he hopes to learn more through working with people that share his enthusiasm and motivation. He also enjoys cooking, fitness, and occasional binge watching of shows with friends.

Nicole Swanson - An aspiring software engineer currently attending Holberton School. Has a passion for creativity and problem solving. Pastimes include playing piano, photography, painting, and hiking. Previous jobs were as a ride share driver and a healthcare worker.

Rui Feng - A CS graduate who developed and maintained a tutor/tutee management system that served hundreds of tutors and over eight thousands of tutees each semester. He maintains his curiosities in tech and is currently improving his SWE skills at Holberton School.

Sumin Yu - A current Full-Stack Software Engineering student at Holberton School. Has a BE in computer engineering from UC Davis. Love learning and mastering new things. Passion for problem solving, designing, and developing. Enjoy cooking and playing with her cats.
